QuoteVet vs. lead sites

Not a lead site.
Here's the actual difference.

A lot of contractor-matching sites earn their money from contractors, usually by charging them for your request. Contractors pay QuoteVet nothing. Almost everything else on this page follows from that one decision.

Side by side

Lead sites vary, so the left-hand column is the usual model rather than any one company. The right-hand column is exactly what we do.

A typical lead site QuoteVet
Contractors pay Usually per lead Nothing
Who the site works for Contractors buying leads You
After you submit Several contractors may call, often within minutes Contractors reply to us, not to you
How many contractors Whoever bought the lead A set number contacted, guaranteed

Chasing the written quote Usually up to you We chase it
Comparing quotes Up to you Line by line, one checklist

Ranking Can be influenced by spend No paid placement
Speed Calls can start the same hour About three weeks to quotes

Follow the money

When contractors pay per lead, the contractor is the customer. The natural move is to sell each request to more than one of them, and to keep them buying. That isn't a scandal. It's how the model works, and the phone that won't stop ringing after you ask for a quote is what it looks like from your side.

When contractors pay nothing, there's nothing to sell. No contractor can buy a place on your list, so we have no reason to push one over another. That's what lets us tell you plainly when a bid looks thin, leaves something out, or hides a cost in an allowance.

What stays the same

You still meet the contractors, and you still decide. You're never obligated to hire anyone we contact, and we're not paid by whoever you pick.

Contractors are independent businesses we find from public listings. They aren't our employees, and we don't do the work ourselves.

When a lead site may suit you better

We'd rather you pick the right tool than the wrong one from us.

You need someone today

A burst pipe or storm damage can't wait three weeks for visits and written quotes. Call around directly, or use a service built for speed.

You want a long review history

We're new, and we don't have years of customer reviews to show you. Whoever you hire, look up their reviews yourself before you sign.

You want credentials verified for you

We record what each contractor tells us about licence and insurance, but we don't confirm it with the state. Check both yourself before you sign anything.

Your trade isn't covered near you

Coverage depends on how many contractors do your kind of work nearby. If we can't reach enough of them, the coverage check tells you so in about a minute.

Common questions

No. A lead-generation site makes its money when contractors pay for homeowner requests. Contractors pay QuoteVet nothing, and we don't sell your request to anyone.

No. Submitting a project doesn't send your request out to a list of contractors who bought it. We contact contractors on your behalf and they reply to us. When one books a visit from the windows you gave us, we email you (and text you, if you opted in) with who's coming and when.

A lead site's first step is passing your request to contractors, which takes seconds. Ours ends with contractors visiting and sending written quotes, which takes as long as their schedules allow. Most projects come together within about three weeks. We don't promise a date.

No. We guarantee the outreach: a set number of contractors contacted, and you see that number before you decide. How many reply, visit and quote is up to them. If we fall short of the outreach count, you get a full refund and don't have to ask (section 9.2 of the Terms).

Yes. Nothing stops you calling contractors yourself or trying another service too, and you're never obligated to hire anyone we contact.
